Brightwok

Excuse the low quality iPhone photographs, but this place is so good and I didn't have my DSLR.

Brightwok is one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Chicago that's a dedicated gluten free facility AND is almost entirely dairy free as well. If you find yourself walking around the Art Institute of Chicago or Millennium Park, I highly recommend stopping in at Brightwok for lunch or dinner. It's located at the intersection of East Adams and South Wabash, less than .25 miles from the Art Institute and Millennium Park. The food is fresh and doesn't leave you feeling bloated. Lots of veggies, rice, and protein are packed in this one bowl. The bowl I have here has chicken, cashew sauce, jasmine rice, mushrooms, green peppers, corn, kale, and onion. As you can see, I'm also partial to their Thai Cold Brew coffee. YUM.

I can't tell you what a relief it is when I discover (or in this case, my husband discovers) a place to eat that I don't have to even worry about getting glutened in. The stress that comes with asking about dedicated fryers, kitchens spaces, etc. when you attend a restaurant as a celiac is so overwhelming; especially when the first response to you stating you have celiac disease is "What's that?" followed by, "Oh yeah, you're gluten free. I have a friend who does that, too." NO. No no no.

Let me know if you stop by this wonderful place - Happy Thursday!
